SERVICES FOR THE DISABLED

The Kuopio Music Centre facilities and services have been planned so that the needs of different customers are taken into consideration. The purpose is to provide all clients an equally rewarding visit to the centre.

There is special wheel chair access to both of the entrances to the Centre (Kuopionlahdenkatu and Puijonkatu) as well as automatic doors at the Main Entrance (Kuopionlahdenkatu).

Three elevators on different sides of the building allow wheel chair customers to easily move around the house; the main elevator is located in the Main Entrance Hall with access to the Jazz Club (ground floor), Concert Hall Foyer (2nd floor) and Sky Foyer (3rd floor). The service elevator is located at the Consevatory entrance (Puijonkatu) and the third is adjacent to the staff entrance (Kirkkokatu). There are several restrooms for the disabled in different parts and floors of the building.

The Concert Hall spaces for wheel chairs are situated in places with easy access (right lower balcony 14 spaces and right side balcony 4 spaces) and good visibility to the stage. There is an induction loop in the Concert Hall.

The disabled customers have also been taken into account concerning Ticket Sales. The disabled customers in need of the aid of a personal assistant receive the assistant's ticket free of charge. This policy concerns all the concerts of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra as well as the light music concerts organized by alternating concert promoters. The customers need to inform the Kuopio Music Centre Ticket Sales personnel on the matter when purchasing the ticket. There are a limited amount of wheel chair spaces in the Concert Hall and tickets to these spaces are sold only through the Kuopio Music Centre Ticket Sales Office.

When needed, do not hesitate to contact the house personnel for help.
